Meetings

Meetings are held as needed, at such times as the board determines necessary to fulfill their required duties.

Membership

There are minimum qualifications for the five-member board:

  • Two members shall be electrical contractors actively engaged in the trade
  • One member shall be a building contractor
  • Two members shall be practicing engineers or architects qualified by training or experience in work compatible with the intent of Chapter 7, Article III (Code of Ordinances)

The length of terms is five years. There are currently two vacancies.

About the Board

This board makes recommendations of approval or disapproval to the chief building official on all proposed materials, devices, or methods of construction that are not specifically authorized or prescribed by Chapter 7, Article III (of the Code of Ordinances) and have been referred to by the chief building official. The board also makes recommendations to the chief building official and the director of public works and transportation when requested to do so by the chief building official or the director of public works and transportation. Once a year, a report is prepared for the council and the city manager regarding its recommendation concerning any changes to be made in the electrical code.
