Inspections are required as the work progresses. When you are completely finished, a final inspection will be conducted that will be carried out by all inspectors. Following successful completion of this step, a certificate of occupancy or completion is issued.
There are a series of inspections required for major building projects. The homeowner or contractor is typically responsible for the request of an inspection. If any questions arise as to what inspections are necessary for your project, please call the customer assistance division at 816-271-4751. In order of sequence:
Setback
Footing
Foundation
Structural rough
Plumbing rough
Electrical rough
Mechanical rough
The rough in or pre-concealment inspections should be coordinated so that all the inspectors are on site at the same time. All rough in should be complete and ready for inspection. When you are completely finished, a final inspection will be conducted that will be carried out by all inspectors.
Request an Inspection
Please submit inspection requests a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the preferred date of inspection. Remember, rough-in or pre-concealment inspections may require multiple project elements to be complete prior to inspection by potentially more than one inspector at the same time. Please plan accordingly.
