This workshop is sponsored and provided by Young @ Heart Resources for Healthy Aging. Topics of discussion include: quick and healthy meals and snacks, eating healthy on a budget, tips for losing weight and keeping it off, and the importance of physical activity for living well. Are you looking for low intensity strength and balance exercise that is fun and affordable? Kelly from Freudenthal Fit Club offers Exercise with Kelly every Monday afternoon from 1-2 pm at the Joyce Raye Patterson 50+ Activity Center. This class involves exercises for sitting and standing and is open to all ages and abilities. Cost is $2 per person. Have fun and make friends while you improve your health. Register to attend this free program that provides education and discussion beyond what is discussed with your provider and in other diabetic classes you have attended. Topics include by are not limited to healthy eating and menu planning, glucose testing, dealing with stress, decision making, dealing with depression and difficult emotions, positive thinking, relaxation, taking time for yourself, exercise, and the importance of foot care. Learn a variety of helpful hints and tools to help being diabetic be a little more manageable and less stressful. Free materials are provided with instruction provided by Arthritis Community Services and the University Extension. Sessions will take place on Wednesdays beginning November 4 through December 9 from 2-4 pm at the Joyce Raye Patterson 50+ Activity Center, 100 S 10th. The Monday Line Dance Lessons are open to persons 50+ every Monday from 3-4 pm at the Joyce Raye Patterson 50+ Activity Center, 100 S 10th Street, St. Joseph. Cost is $2 per person.
