[ARCHIVED] Nixle Alerts

Safety Tips Fire

Nixle is a free electronic communications forum that allows public safety agencies and municipalities to get urgent messages out in real-time to the residents we serve. The Nixle Communications System is used to send out information on critical situations such as severe weather events, evacuations, safety hazards, security threats, or facilities problems.

Alerts will be sent to your mobile device as a text and to your email with more detailed information and instruction. Important messages will also pop up on your Facebook and Twitter feeds if you follow the St. Joseph Police Department. You can customize the alerts to a particular time of day (we don’t want to unnecessarily interrupt your beauty rest!), to a particular zip code, or to the types of alerts you want to receive.

It is a great tool that may help you avoid being late to work by letting you know a major intersection is blocked by a traffic crash, or it may even help locate a missing child! Emergency management information is broadcast as well to help keep you and your family safe and prepared.

Nixle is an easy, free and customizable way to stay connected with your community. Sign up today!
