The Parks, Recreation & Civic Facilities Department strives to provide a variety of experiences and an enhanced quality of life, while adding to the city's economic base through tournaments, festivals, attractions, and programs. The park system, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is comprised of approximately 1,500 acres, 26 miles of parkways and boulevards, containing 48 parks and related facilities. The recreation division coordinates a wide range of programs, instructional, developmental and leisure opportunities for all ages, interests and abilities. The department strives to provide the opportunity for each individual to have a healthy, active, safe, and enjoyable lifestyle.
